2. River Valley Connections

RVC01 Trent Valley Way

Creating a series of walks and trails along the River Trent.

Project Summary

The Trent Valley Way is a long distance walking route along the River Trent from source to estuary. Our project waymarked and promoted the Trent Valley Way within the Transforming the Trent Valley landscape. The walking route acts as a spine along the river valley, connecting heritage, places and communities.

This walk links up with other access routes including footpaths, cycle ways and the National Forest Way, as well as some of our heritage projects. Along its length are a series of circular walking routes connect to key cultural, industrial and natural heritage sites.

The Trent Valley Way follows Rights of Way. The long term maintenance is the responsibility of the landowner under the guidance of the Rights of Way departments at Staffordshire and Derbyshire County Councils.

Trent Rivers Trust remains committed to promoting the entire Trent Valley Way including the area within the Transforming the Trent Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme area and upstream and downstream of it. Funding will be sought to continue to look for opportunities to further develop and promote it.
