Walking

The circular walk around the site makes it a popular location for local dog walkers, and the network of lakes, pools and proximity to the River Trent make it a key site for birders. Take a walk around these stunning lakes and view the wildfowl and other wildlife through our hides and screens. Learn more about the creatures that call this wetland nature reserve home. For more intrepid walkers, the Trent Valley Way is a 51km route from Rugeley to Shardlow. Follow the river as it wends its way through this beautiful landscape. To enjoy the series of stunning lakes and wetlands along this stretch of the River Trent, start at the National Memorial Arboretum and follow the route north towards the Washlands in Burton-upon-Trent.
