We have opportunities for anyone to get involved with species recording.

Whether you adopt a local area and record what you find over time, go out and record species across a variety of locations, or simply get involved with a one-off event, everything can help.

It is so easy to become a Wildlife Recorder, you just need to tell us 4 key pieces of information:

What did you see?
A common name is good; the Latin name is better.
Where did you see it?
This could be a site description, a grid reference or a What3Words
When did you see it?
Tell us the date
Who is making the record?
Tell us your name

If you can add a photo too that is even better as it helps us to verify the record. It is also useful to have if you are unsure of the Latin name.

Anyone can submit wildlife records to Local Environmental Records Centres directly, or via apps such as iRecord and iNaturalist. There are also opportunities within Staffordshire and Derbyshire Wildlife Trusts to become a volunteer for surveying and monitoring.
