Brizlincote Parish Council

A £2,000 grant was awarded to install accessible benches, a children’s sensory trail and interpretation boards. A follow up grant of £4,640 has been awarded to expand the interpretation boards to highlight different habitats and interesting geological features on the site.

Friends of Scalpcliffe Woods

The Friends have been awarded £1,620 towards the creation of an interpretation board in Scalpcliffe Woods to highlight the history of the area and show the links to wider walking trails on the Washlands.

Burton Leander Rowing Club

The club was awarded £5,000 towards the provision of community social rowing taster sessions to introduce a wider range of people to the sport of rowing, encourage engagement and a connection with the River Trent, and provide a place for people to come together for social and wellbeing benefits.

Branston Parish Council

The Parish Council was awarded £577 towards plug planting and community sessions in Branston with Branston Friends, a local community group. This has been followed up with a grant of £677 to install benches on Branston Leas Nature Reserve to allow more people to access the reserve and sit quietly by the river to enjoy the wildlife. The Washlands are used frequently for public events, such as our ‘Family Fun Day’, which was planned to coincide with the final day of the High Sheriff of Staffordshire’s Tour of the Trent Valley in summer 2021.
