Tucklesholme Nature Reserve is a former sand and gravel quarry that has been restored for nature.
The site was once fields and used for farming before it was purchased by a mineral operator to extract aggregate (sand and gravel). The mineral extraction left large holes in the ground and these have since filled with water. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust worked with the mineral operator to restore the site to become a wetland nature reserve and continues to manage and maintain the site to be a thriving habitat for wetland birds and other animals.
