Cycling is a great way to get outdoors and explore your local area. Whether you cycle to leisure, for commuting to work or school, or for fitness, the Trent Valley has a number of cycle routes to discover.
Through Transforming the Trent Valley, we have been working with East Staffordshire Borough Council and Everyone Active to improve cycle infrastructure in Burton. With the towpath upgrades along 9km of the Trent and Mersey canal through town, enhancements on the Burton Washlands and exciting plans across the town, cycling is hot on the agenda.
We have installed a new cycle shelter at the Shobnall Leisure Complex. A great place to start of end your cycle journey, the Leisure Complex also offers cycle training for all abilities to help you gain the confidence and skills you need to embark on your own cycle adventure. The new shelter includes facilities for maintaining your bike, including a tyre pump, and tools for fixing chains, changing tyres and general care and upkeep.
The parking is free to use and comes with a key card to gain access. To use the facilities just ask at the front desk.
East Staffordshire Borough Council, in partnership with SUSTRANS, have created some cycle routes through the town. Download the pdf to explore a variety of routes that help you get out and about and experience what the Trent Valley has to offer.
